MDF CAPACITY SURVEY 2009

The capacity surveys of the world MDF, OSB and Particleboard industries, published annually in WBPI, have proved a valuable reference for all those who wish to monitor the developments of these dynamic industries.

This is the ninth year of our collaboration with the internationally-recognised expert John Wadsworth of Intermark, the UK-based wood industry consultants. We hope that John can rely yet again on your continued collaboration in the preparation of this survey.

We are continuing to explore the changing importance of added-value MDF production (which the industry has previously highlighted as a key factor) and the MDF Business Barometer.

We would stress that only the capacity figures will be attributed to individual mills or companies. All other information will be analysed anonymously to provide a broad picture of what is happening in the global MDF industry. In this regard we are asking a new question (#3.) about HDF - laminate flooring substrate.

We would respectfully request that you check the capacity data shown in the questionnaires that have been distributed and modify it, where necessary, to better reflect the actual 2008 position and likely situation for 2009/2010.
